Weekend Assignment: Class of 2011

It may be a little early yet, but I’m thinking about graduation. My youngest son brought home his cap and gown last week and something about having a physical reminder in the house… well, it makes the pending ceremony more real.

With graduation, comes advice, and advice is at the heart of this weekend’s writing assignment.

For this assignment, think about graduation in terms of transition. Sure, it could mean someone who is completing high school or college, but it could just as easily apply to the potty training of a toddler. Your mission is to write a piece of advice for a graduate, any graduate, whether you know him personally or not. Or offer up some advice to an entire group of people in transition, for example, your advice could apply to the entire class of 2011. Advice can be silly or serious and come in any form. You might want to write a speech, create a list, or even compose a heartfelt letter.
