Weekend Assignment: Picture Pages

It's a picture.

Welcome once again to the weekend writing prompt! On Wednesday, I posted about writing description and using specific details to create an image in the reader’s mind. This weekend, let’s explore that technique.

Your mission is to find a picture, any picture, from a book, magazine, newspaper–whatever, and write a description based on that image using exactly three sentences. No more, no less. Keep your sentences concise, please. No purpley (yes, that’s a word, I swear) run-on monstrosities. To help you accomplish this goal, you should limit yourself to five or fewer details. Don’t describe every pore on a character’s skin, or every blade of grass in a lawn. Choose “real” specific details.

The Show and Tell Challenge

Step right up and take the B&B Show and Tell Challenge! Here’s how: simply write your response to this assignment, post it on your blog, then come back and leave a link to your post in the comments. It’s that simple!
