Video Book Blurbs
Back in the early days of MTV, most rockers had no idea what a music video was supposed to look like. Those days marked a time of experimentation as musicians struggled to be “visual” as well as “vocal.” Music industry pioneers tested and tweaked (and sometimes downright sucked), but they drove the music video to what it is today — a way to visualize the story behind a song.
Now we live in the age of the book trailer –mini movies on YouTube and author websites designed to do what used to be accomplished by a blurb printed on a book jacket. I’ve picked some of my favorites to share as examples here. As you can see, like those early music videographers, everyone has a slightly different take on what a book trailer is supposed to look like.
Do you think book trailers are effective? Would you use one for your book?
