Prairie Schooner publishes short stories, poems, interviews, essays, and more. They have periods where they are closed to submissions, so be sure to check their submission guidelines in advance to make sure they are accepting work before you send anything.  NOTE: They only accept submissions through their online form.

Renew magazine and website supports people recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction. The content is specialized and focuses on treatment and recovery. Areas of interest include health and wellness, breaking news, support for families, relationship tips, etc. Read the website for an idea of tone, style, and content.

With a circulation of 40,000 Oregon Coast offers a family-oriented look at stories pertaining to the people, history, and destinations found on Oregon’s coastline. A digital sample of the magazine is available online to give you an idea of the types of stories they are looking for.

Motorcycle Classics runs bi-monthly and provides entertainment and information for lovers of classic motorcycles. They also purchase photographs and actively seek freelance photographers interested in taking assignments. Editors urge prospective writers to read and understand the magazine before proposing stories. Sample articles from the most recent issue can be found on the Motorcycle Classics website

Guardian Angel Kids is an online interactive ezine for ages 2-12, their parents, teachers, and librarians. Each issue has a specific theme, and themes are listed in the online guidelines. They pay via paypal, but rates are not listed in the guidelines.

Canadian women’s magazine, Flare has been around for 30+ years, offering fashion, beauty, health, relationship, and entertainment information for women ages 18-35. They also accept queries for their website Flare.com.

IDEA Fitness publications encompasses a family of trade magazines aimed at fitness trainers and health professionals. Titles include: IDEA Fitness Journal, IDEA Trainer Success, IDEA Fitness Manager, and IDEA Pilates Today. Guidelines and a description of their publications can be found on their author guidelines page. They prefer email queries (with credentials).

Dark Moon Books  publishes horror books as well as  Dark Eclipse (a monthly ezine),  and Dark Moon Digest (a quarterly digest). They look for flash fiction, short stories, novellettes, novellas and novels. Horror only. The submission process is described in detail on their website.

If you’re sharp, witty and entertaining, you may find a home for your work at The Scrib. They prefer pitches to complete articles, and all queries must pertain to a specific area of their website (humor, music, sex/relationships/sports/The Drink/Top 8/Travel/ TV/Film).

Novelty Fiction encompasses two magazines: Novelty – Stories & Perspectives (a paying market via paypal)  and Novelty – The Literary Showcase (a non-paying author showcase). Both feature literary fiction and are distributed free to subscribers and visitors. The magazines are also sold in print versions.
