Hello writers! It’s time to post up the first writing assignment of the new year. This past week, I remarked that while I love to be busy, I despise being so busy I can’t decide where to start. That pretty much sums up my year so far — too much to do, and no idea where or how to get going. Rather than continue to spin my wheels and be overwhelmed, I need a plan. That means my weekend will be spent devising one. Your assignment is to do the same. What are your dreams and goals for this year? How will you tackle them to have the best chance at success? To help you get started, here are some things to think about as you plan where you want your writing career to take you in 2013.
- What markets do you want to break into this year? Maybe you’ve got your eye on a specific publication, or area of business.
- What would you like to learn this year? Find a source and get smarter!
- Do you have any projects that have fallen by the way that you need to get back to? Reclaim them by putting them into your schedule.
- Are there new projects you will get around to “some day”? Today is THE day to figure out how to make them happen this year. Break them down into steps, add them to your schedule, and get them done!
Here’s to success in the coming year!
