A breakdown of the genders of YA protagonists in 2013

I thought this little snippet posted by The Horn Book columnist Roger Sutton was worth passing along. It is a continuation of the discussion started in his post: Why do we even call it YA anymore?┬áIn which he contemplates the audience of the YA novel. (Hint: it’s not just the young adults) and how it affects publishing.

The breakdown covers only YA books released in the last half of 2013 (346 novels). If you write YA, you’ll definitely want to click over and read YA by the Numbers
