I posted a call for The Shell Game anthology (Pay $100 – 750-8,000 words) on the Facebook page today. Feel free to click over and check it out if you missed it. (Be sure to like the page if you haven’t already. My schedule is crazy busy, and I often share bits and bobs there when I don’t have time to post here.)
I’ll admit, until I read this particular call for submissions, I hadn’t heard the term “hermit-crab” essay, although I have read several in the past. If you are in the dark as well, or just want some additional inspirational fuel, read The Shared Space Between Reader and Writer by Brenda Miller for Brevity. In it, she uses a form writers are intimately familiar with — the rejection letter — to house essays on other types of rejection. A seriously good read, even if you aren’t interested in writing for this call.
